region (ischaemic stroke) or due to vessel rupture with consequent haemorrhagic stroke.<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, they are the leading cause of serious disability and the second cause of death and dementia, while in our country they are the third cause of death after coronary artery disease and neoplastic diseases.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<strong>Vascular Stroke Rehabilitation Unit<\/strong>\u00a0In Doctors\u2019 General Clinic Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, the rehabilitation process is interdisciplinary, including the provision of care from a specialised team with Neurologist, Internist, Physiatrist, and the immediate support from other specialists of our clinic, such as Physiotherapist, Urologist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, and Occupational Therapist.<\/p>\n<p>Our primary concern is the timely commencement of rehabilitation so that to optimally minimise the risk of complications and the degree of disability.<\/p>\n<p>Patient rehabilitation stages and time vary depending on the severity of complications.<\/p>\n<p>Initially the patient undergoes respiratory physiotherapy so that to remove bronchial secretions.<\/p>\n<p>The patients is placed in the right position and with the right posture on the bed to prevent aspiration, pressure ulcers and shrinkage.<\/p>\n<p>In addition special technical exercises are also used to improve the range of movement of the upper and lower limbs, aiming at the preservation of the joints\u2019 range, the development,<\/p>\n<p>Patients with stroke present with aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia and swallowing and dysphagia disorders.<\/p>\n<p>The speech therapist evaluates the swallowing and communication disorders to plan a personalised rehabilitation programme in order to minimise communication difficulties, to enhance skills and to prevent complications such as aspiration pneumonia.<\/p>\n<p>The occupational therapist with special techniques helps in retraining in activities of daily living such as feeding, clothing, dressing, personal hygiene, mobility, communication<br \/>\n\u039c\u03b5 \u03b5\u03b9\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ad\u03c2 \u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9\u03c2 \u03ba\u03b9\u03bd\u03b7\u03c4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ce\u03bd \u03b4\u03b5\u03be\u03b9\u03bf\u03c4\u03ae\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd.<\/p>\n<p>The occupational therapist educates caregivers and family about the care of the patient.
