Stress Echo
Stress echo is a cardiac test that evaluates how the heart and blood vessels work under conditions of stress, usually physical exercise.
It uses ultrasound imaging to create real images of the heart before and after exercise or the administration of a drug that mimics the effects of exercise on the heart.
Stress echo is an extremely safe and constantly evolving test which is the most appropriate way to do this:
- to assess the vessels of the heart and to exclude or confirm the presence of coronary artery disease
- to check the result of previous interventions
- to assess the effectiveness of the medication the patient is taking
- to assess preoperatively in specific cases the risk rates of an operation.
